Omineca Industrial is looking for positive, team players to join our Machinists team full time in our Prince
George fabrication shop. The ideal candidate will be a certified Journeyperson Machinist with at least 4 years of experience. Experienced fourth year apprentices will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
A regular day in the life of a machinist at Omineca includes setting up, operating, and maintaining machine shop equipment,
manufacturing and rebuilding hydraulic cylinder components, and machining precision parts to
within tolerances of .001”/.01mm.
Machinists also need to be able to keep their work areas and equipment clean and tidy, regularly inspect and maintain their tools, measure and lay out work pieces, and fit and assemble machined components using hand and power tools.
The successful candidate would benefit from a solid understanding of advanced measuring techniques and will need to be able to read and interpret "napkin drawings", blueprints, charts, and tables. A strong foundation in mathematics will allow the candidate to determine dimensions and tolerances for quality assurance purposes.
Duties:
- Set up, operate, and maintain a variety of machine shop equipment including manual
lathes, milling machines, radial arm drills, grinders, and other equipment to create
precision parts for a wide variety of applications - Use machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, drilling, precisions, and grinding.
- Manufacture new hydraulic cylinder components, barrels, rods, heads, and pistons, as well as rebuild worn cylinder components.
- Machine precision parts to within tolerances of .001”/.01mm
- Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
- Perform regular tool and equipment inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Inspect and verify dimensions of machined parts and tools using micrometers, Vernier
calipers, height gauges, and other specialized measuring instruments to maintain quality
control standards. - Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample
parts to determine machining operations to be performed, and plan best sequence of
operations. - Compute dimensions and tolerances, and measure and lay out work pieces.
- Fit and assemble machined components using hand and power tools.
Qualifications:
- Certified Journeyperson Machinist (4th year apprentices may be considered and are
invited to apply). - Minimum 4 years experience working as a manual machinist
- CNC knowledge considered an asset
- Familiarity with Fusion 360 Software
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in a high hazard environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate complicated technical ideas with
precision and clarity. - Demonstrated strong work ethic
- A positive attitude and collaborative nature.
- Independent and capable of meeting production deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).

- Duties require standing for long periods of time and lifting moderately heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications

- CNC Knowledge considered an asset.
- Class 5 drivers license.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a safe environment.

- A positive attitude, team player looking for a long-term position.
- Ability to meet production deadlines with minimal supervision.
